Raising Money For East African Playgrounds at The Color Run

PlaySmart are delighted to announce that we will be participating in The Color Run™ 5k in  Birmingham next month.

The fun run, which is billed by organisers as the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”, takes place at the NEC on August 15th, and will see our staff walking and jogging (or possibly even dancing) our way across the distance to raise money for charity…while been splattered by coloured powder at the end of each kilometre! 9,000 people were involved in the fantastic event last year, the very first one to take place in Birmingham, and this year’s event (which is rumoured to feature glitter explosions) is set to be even bigger.

Although the The Color Run will mainly be raising money for the brilliant NSPCC, we shall also be running to raise money for East African Playgrounds. This superb charity provides playground facilities for schools in Uganda and East Africa, plus also invests great effort providing children in poor regions with skills for future careers. As PlaySmart are one of the leading brand names within playground surfacing, we are proud to be raising money for a charity that is doing great work providing play areas for underprivileged youngsters in such deprived areas. This is a charity that we are extremely passionate about, and we hope that both the NSPCC and EAP (as well as countless other charities) greatly benefit from the Birmingham public’s fundraising.

The Color Run, which is inspired by the Holi Festival in India (the Hindu religious festival which has since spread to Europe and America as a celebration of love and colour), was launched 3 years ago in America (hence the American spelling of the word ‘color), and now holds well over 100 events per year, boasting more than a million participants. Other UK cities that stage this wonderful event include London, Manchester, Belfast and Brighton.

We are very much looking forward to seeing all our fellow Color Runners on the start-line in Birmingham next month for some colourful fun! Please support us and the EAP by donating here:
