There are number important considerations to make when installing any type of safety surfacing on your site. Things like suitability of material, the area in need of coverage, eco-friendliness of the product, etc.
But one often-overlooked factor is how you can optimize the ground conditions that you’re installing your surface onto. Ground conditions shift and change with the seasons, weather and with the strains of demanding situations. All of which have the potential to affect your surface’s performance and Critical Fall Height (CFH.)
So how do you ensure your ground conditions are as stable as possible throughout the year?
SmartPlay Advanced Safety Surfacing
Here at Playsmart, we’ve been hard at work developing an innovative, advanced new system for natural play environments, which helps reduce variability in conditions and maximizes the safety of your surface. We call it SmartPlay advanced safety surface.
Developed over a two-year period for use with a range of safety flooring, the first products to be incorporated with SmartPlay were our eco-friendly and fire-retardant systems, EcoSmart and FireSmart.
Unlike some other stabilising systems, the base materials used in SmartPlay are already proven for Critical Fall Height, and the holes in the grass mats mean that it’s suitable for use in systems where the grass needs to grow through.
So what kind of difference can our advanced safety surface SmartPlay make?
When tested with FireSmart on concrete (in line with BS EN 1177), a 25mm SmartPlay system provides a 1.5m CFH (1.7m with EcoSmart) and a 45mm system provides a 2.4m CFH (2.5m with EcoSmart), as well as great results in independent field tests on a good grass base.
