Outdoor Feature Surfacing in Birmingham Academy
In 2016 PlaySmart worked with the Building Services Team and School Council to fit new outdoor feature surfacing for Washwood Heath Academy in Birmingham.
We worked closely with the Building Services Team and the School Council to discuss the best options for them. Ultimately, we decided on a combination of practical JungleMulch feature areas around benches and bright colour wetpour for the main surface.
These surfacing materials meet their requirements for the colour scheme and outdoor feature designs they were looking for. But also, crucially, these choices create a safe, long-lasting play area. This is essential for a school playground that will see heavy use from enthusiastic children.
Notably, among the wetpour designs was a bespoke school logo added directly into the rubber material. We used vibrant colours from our wide range of pigments for this design to create a worth-while centre-peice for this project.
Washwood Heath Academy staff loved the new outdoor feature designs on their playground. Here’s what they said about their new play space:
