Why do you Install Safety Surfacing at Different Depths?

Our teams install rubber safety surfaces like JungleMulch (resin-bound rubber shred) and RubbaSmart (wet pour rubber) at varying depths in different sites. Why is this? When installing safety surfacing, the depth of the rubber and choice of subbase are important to fully protect against falls.

The protection given by any depth of surface should be certified by an independent testing company. We use Labosport to certify our products to ensure they follow the relevant British Standards of fall protection. For more information on these installation requirements take a look at our full guide to safety surfacing.

It should also be tested onto a concrete base to give an idea of the worst case scenario you could see on hard ground on a hot, dry summer day or cold, frozen winter morning.
