Install Safety Surfacing at Different Depths

Our team installs rubber safety surfaces like JungleMulch (resin-bound rubber shred) and RubbaSmart (wet pour rubber) at varying depths. Why is this? When we install safety surfacing, the depth of the rubber and choice of subbase are key to provide the optimimum fall protection

It’s important to install safety surfacing at different depths to suit the play equipment for which it is provided. The protection given by any depth of surface should be certified by an independent testing company. We use Labosport to certify our products to ensure they follow the relevant British Standards of fall protection.

Safety surfacing is first tested on a concrete base to give an idea of the worst case scenario. This lets us know the minimum fall height the surface provides. Therefore letting us know the protection it provides in less than ideal situations like summer’s hard dry ground or cold, frozen winters.

If your original surface has good ground conditions, a sub-base may not be required. Good drainage and soft soil aggregates means that you only require some basic flattening and raking, on which we directly install the base layers of the surface.
