As with any product, there are ways to increase the longevity of rubber mulch.
Maintenance Requirements
Maintenance requirements are very minimal with JungleMulch.
On occasion, you may need to deal with some weed and grass growth as the natural migration of seeds grows weeds in the porous surface. You may additionally need to wash the surface with a low-pressure hose to remove dirt and dust to reveal the amazing bright colours of your surface.
Over the years, we have discovered first-hand that rubber mulch surfaces stand to these claims of durability. However, like any surface, JungleMulch can be prone to general wear, particularly in high-action areas.
At PlaySmart, we test our bonded mulch onto concrete with independent testing. This provides a worst-case scenario for surfacing to give clients the most accurate Critical Fall Height of the product.
In an effort to increase the surface’s longevity, we recommend using EPDM wear pads in high-action areas. Extra fall protection is often required under swing sets, at the end of slides or around roundabouts. Also, we recommend this in more heavily used playgrounds in heavily in highly populated areas.
Colour EPDM is renowned for its high tensile strength. In less technical terms that means it’s a material that has a high resistance to breaking under tension. EPDM, therefore, lends itself perfectly to creating Wear Pads in JungleMulch surfacing and can be designed and laid in all colours, shapes and sizes.
