What is SmartPlay?
PlaySmart has always worked with our clients to develop safety surfacing solutions that solve their concerns. Therefore we designed our SmartPlay shockpad underlay system as the answer to any questions about fall safety. As one of the UK’s most respected safety surfacing specialists, PlaySmart developed and patented the perforated rubber shockpad (Patent no: 2794257) and rigorously tested it under demanding conditions.
Launched after rigorous testing in demanding conditions, the system introduces a perforated shockpad layer underneath the grass mat. For the best safety surfacing protection, SmartPlay should be installed underneath our market-leading matting products, FireSmart or EcoSmart.
We created the SmartPlay system primarily to improve safety when using rubber grass mats for critical fall height protection. This surfacing enhances the protection that prass mats provide, removing client concerns around grass mats in varying ground and weather conditions.
Additionally, SmartPlay reduces maintenance requirements and improves the look of your area by stopping the mats sinking and encouraging grass growth in action areas.
Applications
SmartPlay is suitable for installation under any grass matting. The shockpad underlay is most commonly installed in play areas that require increased in fall height protection, or in public spaces where heavy-use puts mats in danger of sinking or grass eroding.

PlaySmart have always led the way with safety with our line of grass mat products. Our experts recommend the use of single rubber grass mats up to 2m Critical Fall Height, with the SmartPlay system necessary for effective fall protection above this height.
