What is SmartPave?
PlaySmart offers two variations of SmartPave water permeable pathway surfacing, both suitable for pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian traffic. The most popular variation is our water-permeable surfacing system with a blend of naturally decorative aggregates and recycled rubber granules from used tyres.
Perfect for any pathway surface, SmartPave creates a smooth surface with flat and secure gravel aggregates. These surfaces meet accessibility requirements for wheelchair users, prams, and buggies.
Water Permeable Surfacing
SmartPave’s black rubber recycled granules and decorative aggregates utilise a specially formulated, moisture-curing polyurethane binder. This produces a firm surface with good grip and resilience suitable for a wide range of uses.
Additionally, when we install this on a suitable base, the surface is fully porous and meets the requirements for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). A SuDS-compliant surface prevents issues with puddles, flooding, and surface water, allowing the natural flow of water, unlike other impermeable surfaces like concrete or stone.
