We have recently installed RubbaSmart in the newly renovated Indoor Play Barn at Umberslade Farm Park. RubbaSmart is our Wet Pour Rubber material that creates a smooth, secure surface.
At Umberslade, young children can enjoy the opportunity to bottle feed newborn lambs and calves. They can also hold chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs and even have the chance to ride ponies! And now, they can play on Touchwood Play equipment whilst parents can relax because our safety flooring is underneath.
The play equipment requires a Critical Fall Height of 2.0m. Therefore, PlaySmart installed an 80mm layer of Wet Pour across the whole area. This covers the fall height and keeps the surface nice and flat throughout, removing any undulations and changes in depths. We also installed a rubber EPDM edging strip along one edge of the play area, to allow easy access for pushchairs.
Umberslade chose a blended Earth mix colour for their flooring. And you can see why – it looks like an autumnal woodland floor, perfectly complementing the natural look and feel of Touchwood’s play equipment.
Installing RubbaSmart provides an excellent slip resistant surface, making it an ideal choice for children’s play areas such as at Umberslade Farm. At the edges of the play area, we installed a curved edge to ensure easy access onto the slightly raised surface. This also creates minimal disturbance to the new concrete pad below.
