PlaySmart FAQs: Answering All Your Questions

Here at PlaySmart, we know that there are lots of questions our new customers have for us. Our products, pricing, guarantees and promises are all things our customers want to find out more about, and we’re happy to help! In this article, we’ll be answering some of our most commonly asked FAQs.

Do you only offer outdoor playground surface solutions?

No, we offer both indoor and outdoor playground surface solutions!

What client base do you cater to?

Anyone and everyone! We have carried out playground projects for a wide range of clients, from schools and county councils to domestic customers. We have no scale requirements or preferred areas of business – every customer is equally important to us, and we like trying our hand at any project that comes our way!

How much does your playground surface cost?

We don’t list prices on our website, purely due to the fact that the cost of a job can be influenced by so many different factors and we tailor every job specifically to the individual client. As well as this, we also offer the option between supply only or supply and installation, which also influences the cost of a job. We encourage you to contact us directly, and we can give you a personalised quote based on your requirements.

How do I get a quote from you?

We have a quick quote contact form on our page, which you can fill out and expect a response within 48 hours. We ask for as much information as we can get, as this helps us get a clear picture of your site and how we can put your vision into place. The contact form contains all the prompts for the information we need from you.

What products do you offer?

Currently, we have a wide range of products on offer that all cater to different surfaces and requirements. You can view our full list of products here.

Which product is right for my playground project?

It really depends on what you want to achieve with your playground project, the user base your project is targeted at, what the play surface is being used for, and many other factors. We have developed a quiz specifically for determining which surface is best for you,
which you can take here.

How safe are your products?

There are different safety requirements for each playground project we carry out, based on the existing surface we are building on, the age group of the users of the surface, whether there are any high pieces of equipment that users could fall off, and so on.

For example, we have developed our unique SmartPlay shock pad layers that can be easily installed under grass matting to provide an extra level of fall height protection. This is just one example of how PlaySmart has safety at the forefront of our operation.

I keep seeing you mention ‘Critical Fall Height’ – what does that mean?

Critical Fall Height (CFH) refers to the distance between the ground and the highest platform or point a child can reach or stand on. Usually used in reference to playgrounds, it is a safety term that helps safety surfacing providers like ourselves adhere to safety regulations and install surfaces that will provide adequate protection.

We adhere to strict safety criteria when testing and installing our equipment, and follow BS EN 1177, which is the testing of impact absorbing surfaces. These tests run to recognised safety standards and determine the CFH measurement underneath elevated play equipment pieces.

Which area of the UK are you based?

We are based in the West Midlands, but we work across the mainland UK! We’ve carried out jobs as far away as Scotland – no distance is too far for us to make your surfacing dreams a reality. Recently, we have also opened a new depot in Stockport, Manchester, which will open the door for many more opportunities for our northern clients.

What kind of maintenance do I need to do?

Maintenance requirements differ from product to product. However, the good news is that it’s not too complicated, and we will give you all the aftercare advice you need to keep your surface looking shiny and new for years to come! If you’d like to contact us regarding a specific product, we can answer any questions you might have.

Do you have a product promise?

Yes, we have a No Quibble Guarantee designed to help us lead the way in terms of customer care and after sales service. Our guarantee ensures that if there is an error or fault with a product and you’ve done your part to look after it, we will happily repair or replace it for you.
